Unverpixelter Hass?

November 24, 2021 • 02:00 – 04:00 pm (CEST) • online

Tackling Your Blind Spots: How to Create Better and More Diverse Characters

November 24, 2021 • 04:30 – 06:30 pm (CEST) • online

Gamers are diverse and they want to see themselves represented. In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift in the industry, with an increasing number of companies introducing female, genderqueer or ethnically diverse characters, and tapping into the creative potential of hitherto untold stories. Still, games – like other forms of media – reproduce and reinforce stereotypes, and so do we. People are influenced by media images, their personal and professional environment, so it’s perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed of. What matters is how we deal with these unconscious biases. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to identify stereotypical representations and how to avoid them in your own work.

60 Frames Per Second: Optimize your game in Unity

November 24, 2021 • 04:30 – 06:30 pm (CEST) • online

In this workshop we will explore one of my favorite parts of game development. A part that no player will ever notice or talk about when you’ve done it properly. The thing that can decide if your game will be a fun experience or a frustrating, lagging piece of software:
Performance optimization. Making sure your game runs smoothly on every players device.

You will learn the basics of how and why performance bottlenecks happen and how to prevent them. You will be introduced to the tools you can use to gather and analyze data about your game’s performance and how to identify issues. Then we will talk about some of the techniques you can use to start optimizing your Unity game.
